What is Residential Repiping?
Residential repiping is the process of replacing all existing domestic water pipes and installing a new system throughout your home. It is a long-term solution to serious corrosion problems. A majority of the homes in Clearwater, St. Petersburg, Tampa and all throughout America that were built before 1970 were made with galvanized (iron coated with zinc) or copper pipes. However, over time, these materials will corrode, break down, and begin to rust, which can cause many problems, such as leaks and rusty water.
Many homes today have copper piping and while we can repipe your house in Clearwater, Tampa or St. Petersburg with copper, we do recommend a faster, safer, and more effective solution for residential repiping. Originally, PVC was not used for pressure supply lines because the original compositions did not perform well with hot water. However, advancements and the eventual introduction of CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) have moved this material to be the preferred industry standard for its indefinite reliability. CPVC is highly resistant to corrosion and the chemical bonding in joints can withstand a lot of continuous pressure. This solution offers a faster installation, thanks to a one-step solvent cement bonding system that eliminates the need for a soldering torch inside the home.
Why Is Repiping Important?
There are many different reasons to replace the pipes in your home. Not only will it prevent leaks that can cause expensive disruptions to your everyday life, but it also increases the water purity and can help prevent mold in your house. Old and corroded pipes destroy the plumbing fixtures and appliances in your Clearwater, St. Petersburg and Tampa home, causing your bathtubs, tile, toilets, sinks, dishwashers and washing machines to become stained and require extensive cleaning or replacement. Corroded pipes also destroy the effectiveness of your water system, by reducing the allowable passage, creating low water pressure and volume. Water leaking from them will restrict the flow of water, and improperly sized piping can result in poor water pressure. Having a complete residential repiping job done to your home reduces water consumption, improves pressure, and can increase your property value.
