4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is your boiler in need of replacing? Midway Services is here with some signals to look for when determining whether it’s time to purchase a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler gets standard maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or more. Cast iron boilers can last a lot longer, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is coming up on 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your heating bills are rising or you’re having to call an expert about your boiler more repeatedly, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you discover yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be a sign that the fuel is not burning adequately and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you see these issues or have any concerns about carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Midway Services or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the areas in your home are too hot or too cold and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective and you could need to look into upgrade choices.
