What Are Trip Charges and Diagnostic Fees?
When you want heating, air conditioning or plumbing services from Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning, you will pay for the trip charge and a diagnostic fee individually. Some companies you’ve hired in the past might have combined the trip charge and diagnostic fee, but we feel we can offer better value by separating them.
What Exactly Is a Trip Charge?
A trip charge covers the cost for a qualified plumber or HVAC technician to come to your home. Occasionally called a service call fee, this charge is the standard rate for sending our technicians, equipment and expertise to your front door.
What Is a Diagnostic Fee?
The diagnostic fee pays for the services needed to determine the source of a problem. With plumbing, this could consist of scoping. During HVAC repairs, it may involve taking a look at the inside of your system. If you elect to use Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning for the repairs, the diagnostic fee is rolled into the repair bill. However, you are charged for the diagnostic services alone if you don’t.
What Are the Differences Between a Trip Fee and a Diagnostic Fee
In most cases, a trip fee includes sending the plumber or HVAC technician to your property, while the diagnostic fee encompasses all the work concerned with assessing the issue and working up a plan for repairs. If you are paying for repairs, you shouldn’t notice the diagnostic fee since it’ll be included with the cost of the repairs.
Why Are Diagnostic Fees and Trip Charges Billed Individually?
Some other plumbers and HVAC companies will charge one fee for both the trip and the diagnostics. Instead of charging you for two services at once, we prefer two individual fees. This allows us to price our services in the fairest achievable manner.
