What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Midway Services is here with some of the most typical cooling problems in Clearwater.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioner operating but there isn’t cool air being produced, you might need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air being produced by your air conditioner is actually cool. Call Midway Services and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your air conditioner is not giving off cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

A reason your condenser fan isn’t rotating could be that it just burned out and you have to replace it. Humidity could cause more condensation so another matter to watch for is that the water is not draining right or that the drain is restricted. If you can confirm these things, you may be able to find the problem; if not, give Midway Services a call and we can investigate what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and discuss your options to get your system cooling again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It seems simple but sometimes we forget the obvious. If that doesn’t get your air conditioner cooling, inspect the air filter. If the air filter is obstructed, it could cause huge cooling issues. Another issue that could cause your insufficient cooling is that your AC equipment is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a frequent issue when homes are constructed. Midway Services will come out and do an analysis to determine if the size of your unit is causing your issues.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off continuously, it could mean one of several things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and in need of cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all clogs removed, you may be back in business. Keep in mind that humidity also plays a part so if your home cools to the desired temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to warm up again, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because the equipment is having to work harder to keep your home at a lower temperature.

No matter your issue, whatever air conditioning trouble you run into, Midway Services is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your home comfortable quickly.
